AREQUIPA the White City
Arequipa is the second most important city in Peru and is located 1000 kms south of Lima the capital.
Arequipa is nicknamed the “White City” because most of its buildings were built of white volcanic stone, the “sillar”. Arequipa is overlooked by 2 volcanoes, the Misti and the Chachani. The historic centre of Arequipa was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000.
